Earlier this month, London's Steel Yard was home to the fourth instalment of the monthly drum and bass series, Faster. It featured two rooms of high definition drum and bass with Addictive Behaviour taking over room two.

Founded only in 2019, Faster is a new series that takes place on the second weekend of every month, giving ravers full exposure to a range of drum and bass genres, from the likes of Hospital Records (their launch night) to labels such as Exit Records, Shogun Audio and Valve.

Room One - Faster DNB

London producer Fixate is an innovative left-side artist within the scene. He gave a strong opening set in the main room, blaring a mix of 170 and jungle rhythms. Satl followed to continue warming up crowd with his deep liquid rollers in preparation for Gerra & Stone’s more heavy and dark set. Dillinja, an old school favourite in the drum and bass scene stole the night with an explosive 90 minute set, showcasing a range of triple-dropped classics in between new jump up rollers.

On the night we were also surprised by special guest old school legend, DJ Krust who's had countless releases on V Recordings and brings his exclusive Bristol flavour and unreleased dubs to his song selection. The night was hosted by Stamina and Dynamite MC, alongside resident MC 2Shy, who released a new Soundcloud mix last month.

Room Two - Addictive Behaviour

Steelyard's intimate room two was taken over by London-based label Addictive Behaviour. Known for pushing fresh, dark neuro styles of drum and bass. The label brought in Mark System, Escher b2b Sicknote, Wreckless and Rezin, as well as their signed artists Sweetpea and Saunders. The varied sets were led by MC's Hainesy and Blackeye, which complemented the old school sounds in room one.

Nowadays, there's an abundance of monthly drum and bass nights to go to in London but Faster has cut through the noise, thanks to their solid lineup and choice of venue. Steel Yard's open interior and quality system did justice to the sounds of old and new styles of drum and bass, which can sometimes be overlooked by other events across the capital. We're looking forward to returning to the next event on 11 May, featuring Chimpo, Polar and Bryson, Digital, Addiction and more. There will also be another reveal of a special guest on the night.
