Ahead of their forthcoming album on Hospital Records, drum and bass supergroup Kings Of The Rollers kick off the next round of their Royal Rumble tour in London, 19 April. Known for their energetic live sets, the trio continue their roller rampage at the capital’s 3,000 capacity indoor and outdoor venue, Studio 338. If you were lucky enough to catch them at Hospitality in the Park, Fabric or Tobacco Dock last year, you will know what to expect from this 12-hour showdown.
Studio 338 is one of London’s most striking multi-floor venues donning a brick and glass greenhouse aesthetic, a spacious outdoor area and a heavy void sound system across the three rooms. Following a rebuild after a fire in 2016, Studio 338 returned stronger than ever the following year, and has since been host to Elrow, Abode, Critical Sound and Space Ibiza.
Royal Rumble sees legendary artists facing off in exclusive triple back to back sets, consistent with the KOTR style of DJing. The artists have been carefully matched according to their selection and playing style, along with an MC to hype the crowd. Each round embodies a different flavour of drum and bass with names from across the spectrum.
The line-up includes dark roller heavyweights Doc Scott, Total Science and Randall with the MC Navigator, jungle dubplates from Bryan Gee, Jumpin Jack Frost and an unannounced special guest hosted by Bassman. Expect liquid vibes from the Soul In Motion family, Need For Mirrors, Bailey and Krust. As well as a unique combo between Unglued, T>I and Kyrist who each belong to different stylistic backgrounds in drum and bass.
Bristol’s flagship drum and bass night, Run take to room two featuring former Radio 1 host Crissy Criss, Playaz Recordings hotshots Annix and Critical Impact, Kiss FM’s Mollie Collins and the Run bosses themselves D*Minds, hosted by MCs Jakes, Texas and Foxy.
