Preview: Andy C Xmas Party

Updated: Aug 3, 2020

Andy C is one of the most recognised and respected names in the dance music scene across the globe. His career has been nothing short of a phenomenon, scoring number 1 in DJ Mag’s Top 100 Drum and Bass DJs, and selling out both Wembley Arena in a few days, and a 13-week residency at XOYO in less than 2 hours. To top it off, the underground icon is hosting a Xmas party at London’s Printworks on 7 December, with a four hour set from himself and a strong line-up of artists from across the drum and bass spectrum.

Straight from the Ram Records repertoire, is dancefloor dons Culture Shock along with Bensley, Junk Mail and their newest signing Skantia. 2019 has been Skantia’s breakthrough year with the backing of Andy C supporting his sonically infectious music. His fresh and unique gnarly sound and his remix of Loko’s Bassline Secret earned him a nomination for Drum and Bass Arena Awards’ best newcomer.

The choice of drum and bass pioneer DJs is impressive; Metalheadz’ DJ Storm with Soul In Motion’s Bailey, Mac 2’s Randall and Valve Recordings’ Dillinja are set to pull off some explosive back-to-back roller sets. Representing Virus Recordings’ Ed Rush and Optical,

who are known as the founding fathers of the neurofunk sound. If you were lucky enough to experience their only Virus show of the year at Steelyard back in the summer season, then you know this set is forecast to be dark and heavy. Old-school amen breaks and rolling basslines will be chopped and dropped by the jungle selectors Nicky Blackmarket,

Ray KeithUncle Dugs and Bryan Gee. Four definitive junglists with serious dub collections. Each of these artists have been active since the 90s and have continued to make huge contributions to the scene with their respective imprints and styles.

Andy C is no stranger to supporting the breakthrough talent from the scene. This year he's invited Bou, who in the space of a single year, has seen his lo-fi roller sound touch Hospital, Souped Up Records and Critical Music. Jump-up and dancefloor twister Kanine will also be making an appearance fresh off his Unleashed tour which has seen him headline shows across the UK.

Also in the mix, is the Rinse FM Junkie Mark XTC, who will be going back to back with the dancefloor duo North Base, the talented Harriet Jaxxon, Renegade Hardware’s Unknown Error and Contakt. Hosting the night, is MCs Tonn Piper, GQ, MC I.D, IC3, SP:MC and Fatman D.
