Two of the most recognised and respected DJs at the forefront of the UK dance music scene, Fabio & Grooverider present their 30 Years of Rage album launch party on 2 August at Camden Assembly.
Both born and bred in London, Fabio & Grooverider have pioneered jungle and drum and bass for over three decades. They both began DJing at UK warehouse parties and pirate radio stations in the 1980s, before moving on to club nights in the 90s. Rage at London’s Heaven, was where the pair held residencies from 1991. During this time, they earned other residencies on Kiss FM and BBC Radio 1, operating as early influencers in jungle and drum and bass music. In 1993 Grooverider founded his labelPrototype Recordings and the reputations of artists like Matrix, Dillinja, Ed Rush, Drumsound & Bassline Smith and Optical were built.
Today, Fabio & Grooverider are playing at raves and dance festivals all over the world, and run a monthly residency on Rinse FM. This year they are celebrating their 30-year anniversary releasing a 4-part LP containing a selection of genre-defining tracks of the era, in the format of 4 12” LPs. The first of which includes Lenny Dee Ice’s proto-breakbeat rhythm ‘We Are IE’ by Leftfield as well as Fallout’s deep house classic ‘Morning After’. Each track is supplied with liner notes from Fabio & Grooverider themselves which details the impact and musical journey these tracks took them and the Rage crew on.
The Rage nights are remembered as the ‘ground zero’ of jungle. Unlike the UK warehouse parties that were dominated by acid house in the 90s, Rage nights showcased new and exciting sounds of rumbling bass lines and fast breaks - the DNA of jungle music. On 2 August Fabio & Grooverider will tell this story through music at a special Rage event at Camden Assembly, an intimate venue boasting a 400 capacity. The night will be a journey through jungle and drum and bass history, led by two of the foundation DJs.
The event is currently sold out but you can sign up for resale - here.
