Music Feature: Lockdown Live Streams 03

The past few weeks have proven that music can make a huge global impact. Last weekend we saw Stay At Home Festival smash their target, raising over 16k for the NHS. The teams at Goat Shed and Onyx Recordings received incredible support throughout the duration of the project from the 48 artists who played, the brands who got involved and all the living room ravers who tuned in and donated.

As lockdown continues, artists, people and communities remain united and continue to show their support for each other through the power of music. Here are two big streams to tune into this week - both for big causes.

The Prototypes 24-hour live stream

17 April, 7pm

After witnessing the success DJ EZ’s 24-hour UKG set, drum and bass heavyweights, The Prototypes have committed to doing something positive for the current crisis. On Friday 17 April, The Prototypes will be taking on the 24-hour challenge, with a full night and day of continuous drum and bass and jungle, all in aid of raising money and awareness of the work the frontline NHS soldiers are doing here in the UK. All funds raised will go to NHS Charities Together which distributes proceeds to all 140 NHS charities across England, Scotland and Wales. Donation details can be found here and the target the guys have set is £2500.

The pair are yet to reveal how the show will work between them while adhering to social distancing guidelines, but we can expect a deep delve into the archives, as well as some new ammo from their forthcoming album Ten Thousand Feet & Rising. In an interview with UKF, The Prototypes said: “For us, this is the perfect time to dive into the tunes and subgenres that we love and that you might not associate with us. We intend to represent the drum and bass and jungle scene to the fullest and we are honoured to be able to do it. D&B soldiers and junglists stand up.”

#LIVEFORLOVE – Streaming for UK Food Banks

#LIVEFORLOVE is a campaign bringing together musicians and DJs from all over the nation to live stream in aid of UK Food Banks. All the money donated goes to the Trussell Trust who support 1200 food bank centres in the UK.

Taking over the Saturday slot this week is chameleonic London DJ and ultimate party host, Artwork. Artwork has been throwing events and making music for over twenty years, from intimate gigs at The Nest in East London, to a 12-week residency at XOYO and festival takeovers at Glastonbury to Bugged Out Weekender. Tune in this weekend for feel-good, disco house party vibes and be transported into the front room of Artwork’s brain.

Over the last three weeks, #LIVEFORLOVE has involved over 60 artists, raising over £8,600 for UK food banks. The charity is aiming to reach at least £20,000 in the next few weeks. So get involved, watch, comment, share and donate if you can.
